Beckfoot Trust is an organisation that links a group of local Bradford schools together so that they can collectively improve the life chances for young people within their schools. Our aim is to create a group of truly remarkable schools each with a genuine comprehensive intake. They will be wonderful places for young people to learn and grow up in. We want to make a difference. We want to create something special.

Beckfoot Trust Covid Update April 2022

6 April 2022

Public health advice regarding Covid has been updated and it is now combined with advice about other respiratory illnesses such as cold and flu.

The advice says children and young people with mild symptoms such as a runny nose, sore throat, or slight cough, who are otherwise well, can continue to attend their education setting.  Children and young people should be encouraged to cover their mouth and nose with a disposable tissue when coughing and/or sneezing and to wash their hands after using or disposing of tissues.

If they are unwell and have a high temperature, they should stay at home and avoid contact with other people, until they feel well enough to resume normal activities and they no longer have a high temperature.

Negative tests are not required to return to school.

It is not recommended that children and young people are tested for COVID-19 unless directed to by a health professional, however if a test has been taken with a positive result, pupils should:

  • Stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 3 days
  • The student can return to school 3 days after the positive result, as long as they no longer have a high temperature, and they are well enough to attend.

Routine contact tracing ended on 24th February.  If there is a respiratory illness in your household, you are no longer required to self-isolate or advised to take a daily test.  Children and young people should attend school but may choose to wear a face covering and should be encouraged to cover their mouth and nose with a disposable tissue when coughing and/or sneezing and to wash their hands after using or disposing of tissues.
