This week, children enjoyed valuable learning experiences beyond the classroom. Year 1 visited Bingley Library, Year 2 explored habitats on our school field, and Year 3 had an exciting visit to Cliffe Castle. School trips play an important role in bringing learning to life and supporting curiosity and confidence, we have lots still planned for this year, keep an eye on Class Dojo for more updates and upcoming visits.

Early Years
Early Years have been reading “Can’t you sleep little bear” and have made some lanterns

Year 1
Year 1 had a lovely time on their virtual trip to London this week! We toured around the landmarks and used the LNER train and underground!

Year 2
Year 2 had a fantastic week exploring microhabitats in our school field as real-life scientists. In History, we have been comparing Roman towns with Briton villages from before the Roman invasion, and in English our sentence writing is showing great progress as we continue to build strong foundations.

Year 3
Year 3 enjoyed our trip to Cliffe Castle on Wednesday, they drew a collective map, handled artefacts and took part in mummifying a body.

Year 4
This week, we made poo! We used crackers, bananas and water to replicate food and acid being broken down in the stomach before putting the mixture through some tights (the small intestine) to squeeze out all the goodness and leave us with the remains!

Year 5
This week, Year 5 have produced letters applying for a role as a superhero.

Year 6
Year 6 have been using various pieces of equipment to make their own switches as part of our electricity unit. We had some very interesting ideas!
Pride Beyond School
Amelia in Year 5 had her first big dance competition of the year last weekend and completed 4 dances over the 2 days, hip hop, Pom, Cheer and Lyrical. Her team U10 dance, got two 1st places and two 2nd places. Overall her dance school got 24 1st place trophies, 6 2nd place trophies, 2 3rd place and 3 4th place. Well done Amelia!

We love seeing what our children are achieving beyond the school day! Whether it’s sporting success, music and dance achievements, community involvement, or personal milestones, it’s wonderful to celebrate the talents and efforts our pupils show outside of school. Please email [email protected] if you would like us to share anything on the newsletter.
Important learning information
We use a range of Learning Apps in school, which can also be accessed at home. Please use the links below to practice key skills.
Times Table Rockstars is an award-winning maths learning platform where children can practice their times tables like a rock star! Certificates can be achieved every Thursday for the children who have made the most progress in terms of the biggest increase in accuracy that week. We also run in school competitions.
Times Tables Rock Stars – Times Tables Rock Stars
This week’s winners are; Teddy (Year 1), Rebecca (Year 2) Lia (Year 3) Reagan (Year 4) Aarushi (Year 5) Flynn (Year 6)
Wiliam (Year 4) for biggest improvement and Selina (Year 4) for most minutes played.
Accelerated Reader will allow children to read a book and then take an online quiz to test their knowledge and understanding of the text, and receive immediate feedback. Students respond to regular feedback and are motivated to improve their reading skills.
Spelling Shed uses the science of spelling to teach it to pupils. Using phonics as a base and drawing upon proven approaches such as teaching morphology, etymology, and orthographic mapping, as well as teaching spelling patterns. Children are set new activities on here each week.
