Reception Admissions
Beckfoot Priestthorpe Primary School and Nursery is a community school for children between the ages of 3 and 11. The admission number for Reception, agreed with our Local Authority, is 30 per year group. We only have one intake each year, so children usually start school full time in September of the year they turn 5 years old.
Each year, we have an Open Day for all prospective parents and families to see and learn more about what makes our school amazing. We also offer school tours throughout the year and welcome all parents, carers and families. Once your child has been allocated a place, you will be invited to Welcome Information Evening to find out more.
If you have any questions about our Reception admission or wish to arrange a school tour, please contact our school office on 01274 564879, our friendly team will be more than happy to help.
Nursery Admissions
What do we offer?
All children aged three to four are entitled to 15 hours funded early education and childcare over 38 weeks which is 570 hours per year. It doesn’t matter how much you earn or how many hours you work. Children can access a place at the start of the term after their 3rd birthday. You don’t need to apply for funding, just contact us and we will help you. We are fully flexible and can structure a timetable that suits you and your child, whether it be morning sessions only or two full days and half a day. We also give parents and carers the opportunity to pay for additional sessions over the 15 hours of funded childcare, charged at £8 per session.
The morning sessions runs from 8:30am – 11:30am
Children staying all day come from 8.30am – 3.00pm
Children that attend our nursery all day stay for lunch, they can either bring a packed lunch from home or pay for a school dinner charged at £2.15 and payable via ParentPay.
Some parents and carers may be entitled to an additional 15 hours on top of the 15 hours available to all parents.

This means that if your child attends our school in Year 5, when their secondary school applications are processed, they will be allocated a place at Beckfoot School, providing it is their first choice on their application. This is not affected by where your child lives.
