Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
At Beckfoot Priestthorpe School, our main aim is to promote high expectations and raise standards of achievement across all areas of the school, delivering equality of opportunity and inclusion to every child, in a happy, purposeful, caring environment, ensuring that no child is left behind.
A welcome from Mrs Pugh
Mrs Pugh is our Special Educational Needs Co Ordinator (Senco) for Beckfoot Priestthorpe, Child in Care Lead Teacher, and Health Care Lead. Mrs Pugh works for us one day a week while carrying out her duties as Lead Practitioner for SEND and Safeguarding duties across the whole of Beckfoot Trust.
Mrs Pugh works with class teachers, teaching assistants and most importantly the children in our school community. She not only supports their additional needs within the school, but explores these needs to refer to external professionals where necessary.
Half termly drop in sessions are available with Mrs Pugh and will be announced on the weekly newsletter.
Our Local Offer
Please refer to our Local Offer document to find our more about how we meet the needs of children with SEND in our school
Accessibility
Beckfoot Priestthorpe Primary takes account of its responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010 and the SEND Code of Practice 2014. We do not treat disabled pupils less favourably than others, and we will always take reasonable steps to avoid putting disabled pupils at a substantial disadvantage. There is an Accessibility Plan to increase the ability of the school to cater for the needs of the disabled pupils.
Please click here to view the Accessibility Plan.
Parents/carers are invited to inform school of any disability that could prevent or impair their child’s full participation in school life. If we are made aware of any problems, we always try to make alternative arrangements to overcome any difficulties.
