It has been another busy and positive week at school. Children across school have taken part in “Try, Learn, Thrive” sessions as part of the Keep Learning theme from the 5 Ways to Wellbeing. These sessions encouraged children to try something new, build confidence and think about ways to overcome challenges. They also provided a valuable opportunity to talk about upcoming transitions, whether moving to a new class or a new school. We would like to thank Elle and the Mental Health Support Team for their continued support in school. They regularly work alongside our children and ‘Wellbeing Buddies’ to promote positive wellbeing, supportive conversations and happy playtimes across our school community.
Also this week, Year 6 had a brilliant time, albeit a wet one, taking part in the Brownlee Mini Triathlon at Bradford Grammar School on Tuesday. This is just the start of the wonderful calendar of events for our Year 6 as they get closer to saying ‘goodbye’ to Beckfoot Priestthorpe. We were delighted to welcome Tiph, a French mum, into school to support our French lessons. She shared her language and cultural knowledge with the children and helped bring their learning to life in a really engaging way.
It is also our final week of clubs for this term. New clubs for next term are now live, so please check your emails and ParentPay for further information on how to book. We have multi sports, forest school, mindfullness colouring club, choir and TT Rockstars. A polite reminder that if your child has an upcoming trip next half term too, please can you provide consent and payment as soon as possible.
We hope all our children and families have a lovely and restful half term break, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday 1st June.

Pride Beyond School
We love seeing what our children are achieving beyond the school day! Whether it’s sporting success, music and dance achievements, community involvement, or personal milestones, it’s wonderful to celebrate the talents and efforts our pupils show outside of school. Please email [email protected] if you would like us to share anything on the newsletter.
Well done to our children in Year 5
You may have noticed some of our Year 5 children have been out and about in our local community recently and what fantastic feedback they have received on the local community social media sites. They have shown great behavior and kindness, and we are very proud of each and every one of them!

Well Done George!
George in Year 6 has won Kanga’s Art Competition. This competition was part of the Bradford City of Culture 2025 celebrations, where Kanga Sports, alongside “Sustainabilty Sorted”, worked on a special project to get kids moving through art. The challenge was for children to draw their favourite sport, in George’s case, surfing! His drawing has been selected to be featured on a set of Trumps cards that have been distributed to all winners and their schools who had children taking part. Well done George!
Important learning information
We use a range of Learning Apps in school, which can also be accessed at home. Please use the links below to practice key skills.
Times Table Rockstars is an award-winning maths learning platform where children can practice their times tables like a rock star! Certificates can be achieved every Thursday for the children who have made the most progress in terms of the biggest increase in accuracy that week. We also run in school competitions.

Accelerated Reader will allow children to read a book and then take an online quiz to test their knowledge and understanding of the text, and receive immediate feedback. Students respond to regular feedback and are motivated to improve their reading skills.
Spelling Shed uses the science of spelling to teach it to pupils. Using phonics as a base and drawing upon proven approaches such as teaching morphology, etymology, and orthographic mapping, as well as teaching spelling patterns. Children are set new activities on here each week.
