Welcome back after the Easter break! We hope you all had a wonderful holiday. It has been a great to welcome the children back into school — there has been a fantastic buzz around the classrooms as everyone has settled quickly back into learning.
We have also been delighted to welcome five new children to our school community this term. We are so pleased to have them join us and wish them well in settling into school life at Beckfoot Priestthorpe.
Our clubs are already up and running, and it’s been fantastic to see such excitement around both Multi Sports and Gardening Club, which have proven very popular. To add a bit of fun and motivation, we have launched a brand new Attendance Streaks Competition — we can’t wait to see which classes rise to the challenge! Please see below for more information if you missed the original communication.
We are really looking forward to a busy and exciting term ahead, with plenty of learning, the final round of class assemblies, and a range of school trips to look forward to. Please see below key dates for this summer with more to be added, so please keep your eyes peeled.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support — we’re excited for a fantastic term ahead!

Attendance
This week we launched our ‘Level Up Streaks Competition’ with Years 1 – 6.
What is the Level Up Attendance Streaks Competition?
Starting from yesterday, all children in Years 1 – 6 will begin on a streak of zero and will build their attendance streak by coming to school every day.
- Each full week in school adds 5 days to a child’s streak
- Two full weeks becomes a 10‑day streak, three weeks a 15‑day streak, and so on
- If a child has a day off, the streak ends and restarts from zero
- Certificates and class prizes will be awarded to celebrate achievements
The focus is on encouraging positive habits, resilience and consistency, while helping pupils understand how important it is to be in school every day.
What have children been doing this week?
We are changing things up slightly, so to keep up to date with everything moving forward, don’t forget to check Class Dojo, where teachers will
regularly share updates and photos from your child’s class. You can also follow us on Facebook and Instagram to see highlights of what’s been going on across the school.
Pride Beyond School
We love seeing what our children are achieving beyond the school day! Whether it’s sporting success, music and dance achievements, community involvement, or personal milestones, it’s wonderful to celebrate the talents and efforts our pupils show outside of school. Please email [email protected] if you would like us to share anything on the newsletter.
Important learning information
We use a range of Learning Apps in school, which can also be accessed at home. Please use the links below to practice key skills.
Times Table Rockstars is an award-winning maths learning platform where children can practice their times tables like a rock star! Certificates can be achieved every Thursday for the children who have made the most progress in terms of the biggest increase in accuracy that week. We also run in school competitions.

Accelerated Reader will allow children to read a book and then take an online quiz to test their knowledge and understanding of the text, and receive immediate feedback. Students respond to regular feedback and are motivated to improve their reading skills.
Spelling Shed uses the science of spelling to teach it to pupils. Using phonics as a base and drawing upon proven approaches such as teaching morphology, etymology, and orthographic mapping, as well as teaching spelling patterns. Children are set new activities on here each week.
