Wider Opportunities

Wider Opportunities

At Beckfoot Priestthorpe Primary School we believe in providing all pupils with opportunities beyond classroom learning. We provide invaluable experiences which also develop personal and social skills. This broadens the pupil’s understanding of the world and the opportunities available to them.

Clubs

At Beckfoot Priestthorpe Primary School, we provide a wide range of sports based and non-sports based before and after school clubs. We map out our clubs’ offer over the year to ensure that there is an opportunity for every child from Years 1-6 to access an out-of-school hours club if they would like to. Lots of these clubs are run by our partners Kanga but teachers run both after school and lunchtime clubs which are available to all.

Assemblies

At Beckfoot Priestthorpe Primary School, we value collective worship and assemblies, which we design to promote spiritual, moral and cultural development. Our assemblies provide the opportunity for children to explore their own beliefs as well as develop community spirit through shared ethos and values. Our assemblies include reflection on values, faith, festivals and community as well as sharing achievements. We also have assemblies from local churches and community groups throughout the year.

Trips and Visitors

At Beckfoot Priestthorpe Primary School, children have trip and visitor opportunities in every year group. In their time at Beckfoot Priestthorpe, children will have visited parks, zoos, the theatre, a selection of museums and art galleries. We often have visits to school such as the police, fire service, dentists, doctors, the NSPCC and the Mental Health Support Team. Children in key stage 2 get the chance to go on an overnight stay at Blackhills Scout Camp in Bingley to experience being away from home for the first time. Children in Year 6 get the opportunity to go to Robinwood for a three day residential to complete several adventurous activities developing the children’s independence and physical capabilities.
