Welcome to Year 6
Our Year 6 Pupils enjoy an exciting final year at Primary School. We immerse pupils in our Year 6 units of study, as they explore periods of history including World War 2 and the Romans, and exciting science topics like light, electricity, and classification. In English our writing units are driven by engaging novels including Holes, Wildboy, and Cogheart. Throughout the course of the year, Year 6 will engage in a variety of fun outdoor activities, including a visit to Robin Wood, tackling the Brownlee Triathlon, and the Junior Warrior challenge. At the end of the year, they will receive the opportunity to showcase their creative talents, with a production of their very own Leaver’s Assembly.
In year 6, pupil’s will be assessed in their SATs week, as they demonstrate their hard work and everything they’ve learnt throughout their time at Primary School. We help all of our pupils to achieve their full potential, and work closely with our families to ensure that our pupils move on to secondary school as happy, resilient, independent, and confident learners. We expect our oldest pupils to become role models for the rest of the school, which helps them to develop their confidence and leadership skills, great traits to take with them to high school.
