Early Years

Early Years have been reading the Very Hungry Caterpillar and finding out about the life cycle of a butterfly.

Year 1

Year 1 have started their new History topic, ‘The Great Fire of London’. We looked at how the fire started and why it continued. We compared living conditions in 1666 to now.

Year 2

Year 2 have been on a plant hunt around the school grounds. We found so many different plants!

Year 3

In Maths, Year 3 have been consolidating column addition using regrouping.

Year 4

This week, Year 4 have been learning how to use personification in our writing to improve the description.

Year 5

Year 5 have been working hard on their arithmetic skills in maths this week.  We have been looking at addition and subtraction and how we might use these operations to solve word problems.  The children have used concrete maths resources to understand how addition and subtraction works before moving on to perfecting their use of the column method.  We will be moving on to multiplication and division in the coming days.

Year 6

SATS revision has been the priority for Year 6 this week. On Friday they helped each other by completing peer marking of a short-burst write. They have been working very hard all week in preparation for their SATS.
