SPORTS DAY 2025

Despite the wet weather, our 2 day Sports Day was a fantastic display of energy and enthusiasm. We started with our Early Years children on Wednesday, they were all smiles as they took part in the bean bag race and the classic egg and spoon race. Their excitement set the tone for the following day when the rest of school took part in their Sports Day on our school field. Dressed in their vibrant team colour, children showed outstanding team spirit across all events. As always the fun and competitive parent race brought a lot of laughter from the crowd!

A big thank you to Sports UK who organised our Sports Day, and to Beckfoot School Year 11 students who came to support us for both days. Thank you to you as parents and carers who come in droves to support our events, your support and participation does not go unnoticed, so thank you.

Early Years

We have been looking at capacity, weight and length in Maths this week.

Year 1

Year 1 have been learning about seeds and how they spread.

Year 2

Year 2 have been looking at healthy diets in science and what each food group does for our body.

Year 3

In Maths, Year 3 have been exploring creating 3D shapes.

Year 4

This week, we practised the triple jump in readiness for sports day.

Year 5

Year 5 have been designing their very own soft toys in Design and Technology.  The children have cut their fabric using a template for the body and then used their own designs for the detailing.  We have practised different types of stiches and this week they have started to sew on the small pieces to create the front of their toys.  We are looking forward to bringing them home at the end of term.

Year 6

Year 6 have been developing their sketching skills. We learned to blend, shade and add fine details whilst drawing the human eye.

Important learning information

We use a range of Learning Apps in school, which can also be accessed at home. Please use the links below to practice key skills.

Times Table Rockstars is an award-winning maths learning platform where children can practice their times tables like a rock star! Certificates can be achieved every Thursday for the children who have made the most progress in terms of the biggest increase in accuracy that week. We also run in school competitions.

Accelerated Reader will allow children to read a book and then take an online quiz to test their knowledge and understanding of the text, and receive immediate feedback. Students respond to regular feedback and are motivated to improve their reading skills.
