We have had a wonderful week in school. Our Year 4 children enjoyed meeting with the Friends of Jerr Wood for a bulb planting session, and they represented the school brilliantly. We hope to offer many more opportunities for our children to engage with the local community and enjoy learning outdoors.
FOPPS are kindly asking for baking donations ahead of next weeks Winter Fair. If you are able to contribute you are welcome to drop to the school office. Please ensure all items are nut-free.
Thank you for all the generous donations received today – we truly appreciate your support. We’re looking forward to the fantastic Winter Fair next week and hope it will be a huge success!
If you missed Parents’ Evening please contact the school office to arrange a meeting with your child’s class teacher.

Early Years
Early years have been using hammers and other tools safely.

Year 1
We have loved adding using make ten this week.

Year 2
Year 2 have been representing the seasons through colour.

Year 3
Year 3 have been learning about joints. We created a joint using straws and pipe cleaners.

Year 4
Year 4 had a lovely time at Rewind to Christmas. They learnt more about what Christians believe about the birth of Jesus, and created a wonderful tealight holder

Year 5
In Year 5, we have been developing our ability to use different artistic media (watercolour paint or pencils, sketching pencils, colouring pencils, oil and chalk pastels). We initially sketched the outline of a dragon eye, before deciding on the scaling around the eye. The final aspect was to consider a colour scheme with either contrast or blending.

Year 6
In geography, Year 6 have been learning about the different biomes that can be found on planet earth.
Important learning information
We use a range of Learning Apps in school, which can also be accessed at home. Please use the links below to practice key skills.
Times Table Rockstars is an award-winning maths learning platform where children can practice their times tables like a rock star! Certificates can be achieved every Thursday for the children who have made the most progress in terms of the biggest increase in accuracy that week. We also run in school competitions.
Times Tables Rock Stars – Times Tables Rock Stars
Accelerated Reader will allow children to read a book and then take an online quiz to test their knowledge and understanding of the text, and receive immediate feedback. Students respond to regular feedback and are motivated to improve their reading skills.
Spelling Shed uses the science of spelling to teach it to pupils. Using phonics as a base and drawing upon proven approaches such as teaching morphology, etymology, and orthographic mapping, as well as teaching spelling patterns. Children are set new activities on here each week.
