Big thank you from Mrs Gunning

I would like to say a big thank you our FOPPS team for a fantastic Neon Disco last night – always a favourite with the children! A great deal of hard work and dedication goes into organising these events, and it is wonderful to see all the children having fun and creating memorable experiences with their friends! We are very grateful to all those who help and offer their support, thank you! A big thank you to Henry, Brodie and Lia for clearing up at the end of the night too, superstars! Also thank you to the staff that supported too, Mrs Tinsley, Mrs Joyce and Miss Sefton. Events like this can only happen with volunteers, so thank you!

Early Years

Early Years have been reading Owl babies and finding out about nocturnal animals.

Year 1

Year 1 loved their visit to Bingley library last week.

Year 2

Year 2 have been writing brilliant sentences as part of their story work about a greedy shark, showing growing confidence in their writing. We have also been learning more about how the Ancient Romans have influenced life in Britain, even today, many years later. In reading, the children are becoming expert readers of our class chapter book, Dave the Pigeon!

Year 3

Year 3 have been reading and translating messages using hieroglyphics just like archaeologists!

Year 4

This week, we used what we have learnt about HTML tags in ICT to design our own webpage.

Year 5

Year 5 treated us to a fantastic class assembly on Thursday all about the Victorians. A wonderful showcase of their hard work and talent. Well done Year 5!

Year 6

Year 6 have been working hard in maths this week on using a protractor to measure angles.  They have also been practising estimating angles and drawing their own angles in their books.   We even managed to master the reflex angle!

Pride beyond school

We love seeing what our children are achieving beyond the school day! Whether it’s sporting success, music and dance achievements, community involvement, or personal milestones, it’s wonderful to celebrate the talents and efforts our pupils show outside of school. Please email [email protected] if you would like us to share anything on the newsletter.

Important learning information

We use a range of Learning Apps in school, which can also be accessed at home. Please use the links below to practice key skills.

Times Table Rockstars is an award-winning maths learning platform where children can practice their times tables like a rock star! Certificates can be achieved every Thursday for the children who have made the most progress in terms of the biggest increase in accuracy that week. We also run in school competitions.

Times Tables Rock Stars – Times Tables Rock Stars

This week’s winners are; Teddy (Year 1) Ayrah (Year 2) Theo (Year 3) Aeyla (Year 4) Max (Year 5) Sophie (Year 6)

Wiliam (Year 4) for biggest improvement and Daisy (Year 6) for most minutes played.

Accelerated Reader will allow children to read a book and then take an online quiz to test their knowledge and understanding of the text, and receive immediate feedback. Students respond to regular feedback and are motivated to improve their reading skills.
