Beckfoot Trust is an organisation that links a group of local Bradford schools together so that they can collectively improve the life chances for young people within their schools. Our aim is to create a group of truly remarkable schools each with a genuine comprehensive intake. They will be wonderful places for young people to learn and grow up in. We want to make a difference. We want to create something special.

You said we did. Autumn Parent Survey outcomes

Parent Survey

We asked you to fill in a parent survey at our Autumn Parent’s evening and have been working very hard on the things that you asked for.

Here are some of the results:

You said you wanted more clubs to run and for these to be a mixture of sporting and nonsporting ones.

We have ensured that we have had different range of clubs on every night after school. Clubs such as coding and craft club have been run by school staff and other clubs are run by Kanga.

You said that you wanted more trips.

We have planned trips or residentials for every year group in school and have tried to make sure that these remain affordable in times when many are struggling.

You said that you wanted to come into school more.

Over the last term we have had face to face parent’s evenings, chances to come in and view your children’s books, nativities, carol concerts, a disco, coffee mornings, parent workshops and class assemblies to try and provide as many opportunities for parents to come into school as possible.

You wanted us to cover Cycling Proficiency.

We have introduced balance bike sessions in EYFS and Cycling Proficiency in Year 6 to ensure that we are providing lots of cycling opportunities for our children.

You wanted more parent interaction.

We send home a weekly newsletter with information about each class and try to keep our class dojo class pages up to date with messages and information. We also add whole school events and information to our whole school class dojo page most days.

We are holding parent workshops throughout the year to keep you informed about how we teach things in school. We are always available on the playground before and after school and, if you need to get hold of us at any other time, you can email

office@beckfootpriestthorpe.org and this will be passed on to the appropriate member of staff.

You wanted to come in and read.

Our reading offer in school has changed and would make this very difficult. All children in years 1-6 come in and go straight into maths in a morning and their reading and phonics lessons happen at 11:15. We read our class novel at 2:50 and independent reading happens around the rest of our lessons. This means that it would be very difficult to allow parents in to read. We hope that this reading can now happen at home at least three times a week.

 You wanted more team events.

We have been in contact with a local sports team organiser and are hoping to be included in some upcoming events. Lots of our key stage two children attended a cross country qualifier and, as a result, we had a Year 4 team competing in the Bradford Cross Country final this week who have made it into the West Yorkshire finals.
